This is my special painting that I commissioned for my own home. 36” x 60” the perfect size that fit so many of our walls, mine included:)
I wanted something subtle, soft, warm with a true taste of Yiddishkiet that would light up the room, beautifully and spiritually. Subtle was the goal. I wasn’t sure how it would be taken by others but I didn’t really care. It was going to be hung on my own wall:). When I brought it to the framer people came in, stopped, oohed and aahed. Then I showed it to you on Instagram, and it was an instant hit. I got hit so many times but I finally painted something for my own home! I wasn’t going to give it up! (I then created a smaller similar painting for those who begged;))
Now, we’re moving to a new home and there is no wall that’s properly fits this painting. I tried to get creative but after much thought I decided the best thing would be for it to be on someone else’s wall, where it can be enjoyed for its entirety.
It completely completes the room. We loved seeing it every time we were in the space. It will be so missed but I will be delighted knowing that it will fill your hearts just like it filled ours.

IN THE MOMENT - This painting has been sitting on my easel for weeks. Every time I passed it I added something. Never forcing it or rushing. Just enjoying the moment and seeing it for what it was. Then it was just strokes of color with a lot of white. I loved the airiness of it, so light and fresh. I left it not sure what to do with it since I loved how it looked undone. Then when I’d pass it again I kept seeing rooftops! And that’s what it was! I really wanted to keep the vibe and not mess with it too much so I incorporated the buildings very slowly. Being still and truly enjoying the moment. It was very cool.

The way I paint this is by carving out the image with the actual paints. As the strokes come on, I begin to see what’s happening and go with it, stroking my way through, adding more of darks and lights until something emerges. I can probably take the easier route by making the image and then stroking on top, but it won’t feel the same. The depth comes from the feeling it through, the unknown, the back and forth, and the struggle. Every few minutes I stand back - what do I see, what do I need to add or take away? Feeling my way through the painting. And here it is: Jerusalem, so deep & with blue hues.
There are plenty of metallics that don’t show in the image, but the painting shines in person.

This painting was my escape for the two weeks. I was using a photo as a reference and it was very intricate and overwhelming. I told myself: “one stroke at a time”...When I couldn’t see anymore, I left my brushes for the next day. It didn’t feel pressurized - I just would slowly add more strokes, knowing that something would emerge. It was my nightly escape, each time going to my studio and painting some more until something did happen! It turned out very different from my other works but very cool. With all of that, introduce to you: ASCENDING.

This Original Painting is called Mispallim. It shows people in the midst of praying to G-d. The beautiful uplifting background colors really make this painting stand out!
Artist inspiration: "Reality is wrong. Dreams are for real”. A funny thing happens - people tell you to think big, to go for it, but then when you do, they look at you like your a little crazy. Or tell you that it won’t happen. (Or if they’re your parent, tell you to go back to your real job) So what is it? Just words? “Dream big.. go for it..” nice lofty words that no one actually expects to come into fruition, so they can be said easily? It’s interesting...but the truth is, for those of you smart enough to believe in your dreams & the few people telling you to go for it, you’re doing the right thing! Because your reality is what you make it. And if you can trail-blaze past all the people who look at you like you’ve lost it, then you will eventually live your dream. It’s H.A.R.D work, but if you can dream it, you can create it. DREAM BIG. YOU can do it!
What drew me to this scene was the light and the stones - How the light is shining on the stones. The stones that tell stories of so many years....The stones that shine with our history. Stones that are saturated with so much holiness. It’s simply magical...I hope I did them some justice.

I wanted to depict it’s holiness, spirituality, majestic ness - all of it!! With much effort and prayer, this painting that you’re looking at, came forth. Then I found mother of pearl paint, which gave the Bais Hamikdash (Temple) the most ethereal feeling and it was complete. I added people walking, to inspire us. To make it real. May we be so fortunate to see this our real lives.

With the layers and the depth, I hopes that people are inspired to look deep into themselves and hear their own, unique voice, and understand that it’s never what’s on the surface that counts the most, it’s all on the inside. I express the layers as a creation of our uniqueness that we have to strip down and listen to our own whispers. I hope that when one views her work they can come to the realization, that on the inside, after delving deep, we are all so similar, all parts of one whole. And, to realize that we must join together, like all the colors, because when stroked together, that create masterpieces. I believe that we are all individual masterpieces, who, when joined as one, create the most beautiful work of art in the universe, G-d’s ultimate magnum opus.
