This painting has such a regal feel to it. The green / bronze / gold combination reminds me of a magnificent piece of jewelry. That’s what I was trying to convey - a beautiful feel to one of the mitzvot that define us in Judisum. The bottom is darker and towards the top it get lighter, showing that this practice uplifts the mundane and the physical. There are also alef bet floating out of the tefillin and going into the light - they’re there is you look closely, soaring endlessly to higher heights, just like our prayers. And of course the gold leaf encrusted onto the edges, because. Well because it had to be there. I just felt it. And for hidur mitzvah:)
