I painted trees and grass all around this painting to signify life, growth and patience. So much of what we do is setting the ground work. It isn’t till much later that we see The fruits of our labor. Marriage is full of that. Everything is a process and we have to be so patient. Patient with each other and patient with our goals and dreams. Just like trees, they need strong foundations to grow. Once they do, the grow big! 36” x 48”

I always wanted to paint Bereshit...I had a vision and didn’t know how to get there. I wanted something different, something that can hang innocently without the viewer knowing right away what the painting represents. I didn’t know this painting would be it. I started off painting 8 lines, and I figured the inspiration would find me somewhere. Then it hit me. Change the 8 into 7 and make it Bereshit. And somehow this happened!

Creativity is a lot like looking at the world through a kaleidoscope. You look at a set of elements, the same ones everyone else sees, but then reassemble those floating bits and pieces into an enticing new possibility.

I wanted to paint a painting of Yerushalayim that depicts her depth and pure gold. I used a very limited neutral palette and added gold to the outer part of the painting, framing Yerushalayim.
The painting does not photograph well and as much as we tried by taking 100 or more images, the light kept bouncing off the gold, creating a reflection that mutes out the proper colors seen in person.
It’s a real beauty. Like jewelry for the wall.

“What’s meant to be will always find a way” This painting started of with a splash of iridescent pearl white and then some curls of gold. I turned my back to fill up on some more paint and when I laid eyes on the canvas I saw it. Yitzchak and Rivka. It was in that week's parasha, (and no, it’s not a coincidence - It was on my mind and we focus on what’s in our heads). I went with it! There is symbolism here with the colors. The female and male energy is as different as black and white. There is much play with that as you can see. There is also gold leaf in the middle, symbolizing that when a couple brings together their unique colors and sync their energy as a team, as one, they create magic.

We can’t always choose the music life plays for us, but we can choose how we DANCE to it!! This painting started off as bursts of color - the background that I use while painting mosaic dancers. I normally paint strokes and the dancers make their way onto the canvas, stroke by stroke. This time, I stroked on the dancers first, and put it aside to dry. When I turned around & reached out to continue painting it, I totally saw it! The entire vision of this painting flashed before me, and I stopped, contemplated a bit, and went for it! I painted strokes on top of the background but didn’t cover it, since the contrast felt magnetic as the dancers appear majestic, almost lofty.

Where the Music Happens came about in the early days of painting. It was at that time where I pushed boundaries to try and discover the first hidden layer of what was readily trying to burst through. And I found this. It came after a few tries, but when I see this painting, I am reminded not to give up. This masterpiece happened due to that exactly. I tried, and tried, and tried again. When it was finally complete, the music that the musicians are playing, was almost heard off the canvas!

With the layers and the depth, I hopes that people are inspired to look deep into themselves and hear their own, unique voice, and understand that it’s never what’s on the surface that counts the most, it’s all on the inside. I express the layers as a creation of our uniqueness that we have to strip down and listen to our own whispers. I hope that when one views her work they can come to the realization, that on the inside, after delving deep, we are all so similar, all parts of one whole. And, to realize that we must join together, like all the colors, because when stroked together, that create masterpieces. I believe that we are all individual masterpieces, who, when joined as one, create the most beautiful work of art in the universe, G-d’s ultimate magnum opus.

Thursday night...Shabbos prep. There is something so warm and cozy about it. The vibe reminds you that all is well, and all will be well. There are so many pressures in our day to day life, whether it be our kids, or our homes, or ourselves, or our businesses and work... it can be hard to feel the good, since we’re trying to build, grow and create, running to the next thing in life. It’s really all in the little things. It really is.
