Over Pesach I had the privilege of hearing a very moving story of Rav Scheinberg, told to us by his grandson. He told us how Rav Scheinberg was walking down one of the streets in Meah Shearim, a street that many of us have walked before...and the same feeling was felt - the one of pureness. When you walk down those streets, you feel it. No matter what. There is something in the air, something in the people and something in those children. It’s a purity...a kedusha...that can be touched. Rav Scheinberg felt it. Just like so many of us do. He looked over at his wife and said: pack your bags. We’re moving here. (The Scheinbergs were in America at the time) and that’s how they moved to Eretz Yisroel and the rest is history.
It was so amazing to me! I couldn’t stop thinking about it. And still can’t! The power of greatness. Actually doing something with inspiration and making it real! How many of us are moved or inspired so many times?! All of us! How many of us make the change or take advantage of these feelings? One or two. The power of Greatness. || Here is a street in Meah Shearim encapsulating the kedusha. Painting this painting with this story in mind was so very moving.
